FERTILIZING Sparingly use well-balanced, slow release, granular azalea/camellia /gardenia/ixora fertilizer as instructed on the packaging. Avoid getting fertilizer on the leaves, flowers, stems, and trunks. Do not allow fertilizer to clump, be sure to disperse evenly. COMMENTS Has a beautifully large and fragrant bloom in the Winter. Leaves are glossy, dark green, with a serrated edge. Soil must drain well and never retain water, or this could stimulate an array of problems, such as diseases and root rot. Wounds on the bark can be susceptible to fungus, causing branch tips and branches to die. Remove diseased branches by pruning several inches below the affected areas and remove diseased limbs. Be sure to clean tools adequately and properly for each plant, as dirty tools used for pruning can transmit fungus and disease. Fresh cut flowers are perfect for vases. One can also float flower heads in a pond, decorative bowl of water, or even holiday punch bowl for enjoyable beauty! Originates from far east Asia.
