WATERING REQUIREMENTS Water after planting in ground. Regular watering is important for the next 2 years, especially critical the first year. For the first 2 weeks, water daily. Week 3 and 4 need watering twice a week, and from then on water either once (if watering deeply) or twice a week. Once roots have established 2 years after planting, water once a week. Supplement water during droughts and hot weather.

FERTILIZING Sparingly use a general purpose, 10-10-10 once every 2 to 3 weeks from Spring to Summer for faster growth. Alternatively, use a slow-release fertilizer 3 times a year. Halt fertilizing from the Fall to Winter, then begin again in the Spring. Do not allow fertilizer to clump, be sure to disperse evenly. Clumped fertilizer can potentially burn roots, potentially harming or killing a plant. Avoid getting fertilizer on the leaves and trunk.

COMMENTS Originates from South China. This dwarf bamboo has swollen lower internodes and grows straight up. Tropical bamboo that makes a nice specimen and can provide privacy. Slow growing, and will grow forcefully where it wants to grow. Plant accordingly, well distanced from house or pool. Intolerant of frost, plant in warmer or protected areas of the property. In 2 to 5 years, this bamboo will reach maximum height.
